The Handphibians present 2 NIGHTS of music and dance as Madison's own community percussion bateria celebrates Carnaval. It is time to usher in the dawn of Spring with the passion and spirit of Brazil's beloved annual celebration. In Madison, Wisconsin, Carnaval 2014 will heat up the city with 3 different styles of the most exciting Brazilian rhythms: Rio Style Samba, Samba Reggae/Axe of Salvador, and Maracatu from Recife.

Friday night is at the High Noon Saloon where Metabaque will give you Maracatu-style funk beats. The Mama Digdown's Brass Band will showcase the Mardi Gras music of New Orleans with their big brass band. Joining the line-up is the Madison Choro Ensemble. Special guests, the Samba Novistas, will add their own MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) style to the mix.

Saturday night is at the Majestic Theater where the night will open with a Capoeira demonstration, David Irwin, and a performance by Drum Power, a youth music organization, mentoring youth in the percussive arts. Special guests, Grupo Balança, will move you to the sound of Brazil’s “backyard Samba”, an acoustic take on the infamous Rio sound.

Both nights will feature The Handphibians and Otimo Madison Brazilian Dance.
